Horses and Ponies at Williamwood Farm
During your stay in our self catering holiday cottages in Scotland, you will see the Kershope stud roaming around. The Kershope stud was established in the 80’s in Yarrow, on a hill farm named Kershope. Bred from Strathmore and Tower bloodlines, we ran Dougal of Gargunnock for several years, which produced versatile family ponies.
Some of our Kershope youngsters have been seen on the hunting field, pony clubbing in the show ring, or helping out on farms on the Borders.
Our 2008 move to Dumfriesshire saw many changes for our ponies (and also for us!).
Some of our foundation mares still carry the Gargunnock line, and through time we have bred or bought in mares that are a bit more active. 2018 will see the first of our foals from our new Stallion Tormore.
2017 will probably be a year that we wont forget in a hurry, winning the supreme champion at the Royal Highland Show, Reserve supreme Champion at the National Pony Society in Malvern, and best 2 year old bred by exhibitor at the Royal Highland to name but a few successes.
